Feeling overwhelmed? You’re definitely not alone. It happens a lot more than people like to admit. Whether that's work, school, relationships, or just life in general, it can feel like everything is piling up at once.
Here are a few small things that can help in the moment:
Take a breath (quite literally)
Slow your breathing down. Try inhaling for 4, holding for 4, and exhaling for 6. Do this a few times and notice how your body starts to settle a bit.
Make things smaller
You don’t have to try to do everything right now. Just pick one small thing, something so easy it feels almost silly, and start there.
Ask yourself what actually matters today
Not everything is urgent, even if it feels like it is. Think about what things can wait, and leave them for another day.
Move a little
You don’t need to do a full workout or run a marathon. Something as simple as a quick walk or stretch can clear your head more than you’d expect.
Don’t keep it all in
If it’s all starting to feel like too much, talk to someone, whether that's a friend, family, a professional, or even your pet. Remember, you don’t have to carry it alone.
When everything feels chaotic, something I find that helps me is writing a super short list. And honestly, even if I only get one of those things done, it still feels like progress. Sometimes those things are really small, like hoovering or finally sending that one email I’ve been putting off.
Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing. It usually just means you’ve got a lot going on and your mind is asking for a pause. You don’t have to figure everything out right now. One small step is enough.
